As monsoon triggered natural disasters have gripped the country, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the government was working tirelessly in leaving no stone unturned for the rescue and support those affected by natural disasters.

Speaking in a televised address yesterday evening, PM Oli said that Nepal Army, Nepal Police, as well as all officials concerned were with the citizens during the time of such crisis.

PM Oli added that he was shocked and saddened by the human loss caused by floods and landslides in the past couple of days in different parts of the country.

He also assured that rescue teams had been deployed, relief materials were being distributed, and efforts to move those affected to safer zones were underway at all local levels.

“My attention has been drawn to safeguarding the lives of citizens,” said Oli.

At a time when daily testing has decreased to hundreds from thousands for want of testing kits, the PM boasted that death rate due to coronavirus infection in Nepal was at 0.21 percent.

Similarly, the PM also did not shy away from urging everyone to maintain discipline and follow suggestions made by the Ministry of Health and Population and doctors in the wake of the growing cases of infection in the capital city following the relaxation of the lockdown.

Oli also took the opportunity to clarify that intra-party disputes are a regular thing as well as party’s internal matters, and the responsibility to resolve such issues falls upon the party leadership.

He assured that he would make his best efforts to safeguard federal republic, sovereignty, territorial integrity, national prestige, and mutual harmony among Nepalis. His comment comes after the PM chose to save face by stirring hyper nationalism through anti-India sentiments while the country is grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that the incumbent government was committed to save citizens from diseases and hunger at any cost.
