Devotees celebrating one-month-long Madhav Narayan festival arrived at the Pashupatinath Temple on Saturday morning as part of the procession of the idol of Madhav Narayan.
The devotees remain on a religious fast for the entire month and worship lord Madhav Narayan (Shiva) and goddess Shree Swasthani. The tale of the Hindu Goddess Swasthani and Madhav Narayan is recited each evening by the devotees throughout the month.
During the month-long festival, married women pray for the prosperity of their family members while unmarried girls pray for a suitable life partner.
The idol of Madhav Narayan is carried from Sankhu to the Pashupatinath temple, Sheesh Narayan of Pharping, Hanuman Ghat, Changunarayan, Panauti, and then returned back to Sankhu.
