Calling for the immediate arrest of Bhagwati Pandey, Nepal Magar Association Central Committee and Nepal Tamang Ghedung Federal Committee surrounded the Teku Police Range.

The group pelted stones during the Teku Gherau program of the District Police Complex, due to which there was a clash between the protestors and the police. A dozen police personnel were injured and protesters were also injured. According to the police, 28 protestors were detained.

Pandey, who has now been arrested, made a controversial remark during a television interview a few days back, stating that marriage takes place between brothers and sisters in Muslim, Magar and Tamang communities.
