The Federation of Cooperative Savings Protection National Campaign organized a rally in response to the death of 72-year-old Rajendra Sthapit, a victim of cooperative fraud.

Sthapit, who suffered a brain hemorrhage, passed away on Saturday morning after allegedly being denied necessary medical treatment due to the inability to pay a sum of five lakh rupees.

The Federation, in a symbolic protest, staged a rally carrying a box meant to hold Sthapit’s body, emphasizing that the deceased did not receive the care he needed. The rally began at Shanti Vatika and proceeded to Bhadrakali, drawing attention to the plight of cooperative victims.

Sthapit was a depositor in the “Yuva Bikas Bahuudyashiya Sahakari Sanstha”, where he had invested 13.6 million rupees. Despite efforts, these funds have not been recovered, exacerbating the financial strain on victims like Sthapit.

The Federation has urged the government to intervene and ensure the protection of Sthapit’s wife, who now faces an uncertain future with no children to support her. They called for immediate action to recover the lost funds and prevent further tragedies among cooperative victims.
