Nepali Army celebrated the 79th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations at the military headquarters, Jungi Adda, with a series of events aimed at promoting peace, unity, and friendship.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was the chief guest at the event, inaugurated the program. The celebration included a peace march-past performed by the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and the Armed Police Force. The teams also showcased dances representing different communities, alongside various sports demonstrations such as Taekwondo, and a joint band performance.

The United Nations was founded on October 24, 1945, with the goal of fostering global peace and reconciliation. Nepal became a member of the United Nations on December 14, 1955, and began participating in UN peacekeeping missions three years later.

Currently, Nepal contributes 5,918 personnel from the Nepali Army, along with 28 members from Nepal Police and 195 from the Armed Police Force, to UN peacekeeping missions. In total, 6141 Nepali security personnel are actively deployed in various missions across the world.

Nepal holds a leading position in terms of troop contribution to UN peacekeeping missions, particularly in deploying women soldiers.
