Continuous rainfall has resulted in flooding across the Kathmandu Valley, severely impacting settlements along the riverbanks and causing widespread disruption.

The incessant downpour, which began last night, has led to a marked rise in the water levels of several rivers and streams, including the Bagmati, Bishnumati, Dhobikhola, and Hanumante. This surge has particularly affected the squatter settlements situated along these rivers, leaving many homes inundated.

Residents of these vulnerable areas have been grappling with the rising waters, with some having to evacuate their homes. Local authorities are on high alert and are coordinating efforts to assist those affected by the floods.

In addition to the flooding of residential areas, the heavy rains have caused significant water logging along several major roads and intersections, disrupting traffic and complicating commutes for many. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution and avoid flood-prone areas where possible.
