Hindu devotees submerge themselves in the water while offering prayers to the rising sun during the Chhath festival, in Kathmandu, on Monday, October 31, 2022.

The festival is dedicated to “Surya Bhagwaan” (Sun God) and the devotees worship Sun God to seek blessings from for a long, healthy and prosperous life.

Chhath Puja Festival is common in Nepal’s Terai region and is celebrated in Kathmandu as well by the migrants of the Terai region.

The worship has to be based on a pond, river or any water source, as per the religious tradition.
