Barpak-Laprak Road closed for 3 months, affecting essential transport

The Barpak-Laprak road section in Gorkha has faced a three-month-long obstruction, severely affecting daily essential transportation for Laprak residents.

Locals express frustration at the lack of repair efforts by the rural municipality. Despite a contract in 2020 with construction company Sharma/Bikini JV to upgrade the road, progress stands at only 52% after 41 months.

The original deadline of June 5, 2023, has not been met, and the delay is causing hardships in delivering goods and accessing medical facilities for Laprak and Gumda residents.

The Infrastructure Development Office in Gorkha states that the construction company has been offering various reasons for the delays.
