Protesting local level officers demanding swift issuace of Federal Civil Service Act clash with police

A clash unfolded on Monday afternoon in New Baneshwor between protesting local level officers demanding the issuance of the Federal Civil Service act and the police.

The clash occurred when protesters attempted to breach a prohibited area. The police dispersed protesters by firing water cannons while employees pelted stones at the police in retaliation.

Local level officers have been protesting since nine days and have also halted all nonessential work in all 753 local level units. They are demanding an immediate issuance of the Act which includes the demands of the employees working at the local level in the Federal Civil Service Act.

The situation in New Baneshwor has returned to normalcy at the present.
