Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli secures two-third majority

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has successfully secured a vote of confidence with majority in Nepal’s House of Representatives today. Out of the 275 members, 188 MPs voted in favor of Oli, while 74 opposed and one abstained.

Political parties, including the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janmat Party, Democratic Socialist Party and People’s Freedom Party voted in favour of PM Oli.

CPN-Maoist Center, RSP, National Democratic Party, and United Socialist Party cast their votes against him. Prem Suwal, the sole representative of the Nepal Workers Peasants Party, remained neutral during the vote.
