Asar 15: Students join farmers in rice planting ceremony

Students from different schools participated in a rice planting ceremony on the occasion of Asar 15 at Tarakeshwor, Kathmandu organized by MDS Agro Farming.

Asar 15 is celebrated as National Paddy Day, which is Nepal’s official rice plantation day. During this day, farmers throughout the country plant paddy in their fields and enjoy the day by singing, dancing, and playing in the mud.

Lunch on this day specifically consists of yogurt and rice and is eaten as a form of tradition.

Apart from farmers, many schools and local communities conduct field trips to help farmers plant paddy and join them in playing in the mud as an acknowledgment of farming as a pillar of society.

For many, the celebration of this day remains a core memory.
