Vaccination campaign against typhoid and measles-rubella set to begin

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is set to launch a vaccination campaign against measles-rubella and typhoid in seven districts including earthquake-affected Jajarkot and Rukum West.

Starting Thursday, in Jajarkot and Rukum West, the Measles-Rubella vaccine will be administered for children aged six months to 15 years. Simultaneously, individuals aged 16 to 45 will receive the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV).

Surkhet, Jumla, Kalikot, Dailekh, and Salyan will also undergo TCV vaccination against typhoid. The ministry emphasizes the inclusion of an additional dose of the measles-rubella vaccine, urging its mandatory administration regardless of prior doses.

To facilitate accessibility, MoHP encourages individuals to contact nearby women’s community health volunteers, health institutions, or schools for information on vaccination campaign locations and dates.

Additionally, as a special call, children aged nine months to five years who missed regular vaccinations can bring their vaccination cards for discounted vaccinations during this initiative.
