SC directs submission of High Court documents of Bhuwan Giri marital rape case

Supreme Court (SC) has directed the submission of documents from the High Court Patan concerning a marital rape case involving suspended district judge Bhuwan Giri.

The order was issued by a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

Patan High Court had previously determined that remanding Judge Giri at Rupandehi District Court was unnecessary.

This decision contrasts with the earlier directive from the District Court Kathmandu, which had ordered Giri’s release on bail.

Subsequently, Giri’s spouse appealed the decision at the High Court in Patan.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the High Court’s ruling, Giri’s spouse has taken the matter to the Supreme Court for further consideration.
