Police in Budhanilkantha Municipality-5, Kathmandu, uncovered a fraudulent World Food Programme office run by an organized gang. The operation, led by Kathmandu District Police Range and Police Circle, Maharajgunj, exposed the gang’s use of a two-story structure belonging to Bishnu Bahadur Gurung as a rental property.

During a press conference on Monday, SSP Dan Bahadur Karki, the range chief of the Kathmandu District Police, revealed that two individuals had been arrested for deceiving people by operating a fictitious WFP office under the name “International Food Security Programme, Nepal.”

The detained individuals include Ghanshyam Katwal, 47, a temporary resident of Gokarneshwar Municipality, Sindhupalchowk, and Leela Bahadur Ghalan, 40, also known as Dinesh, from Budhanilkanth-5 of Bagmati Rural Municipality-9, Makwanpur.

The fraudulent office had been operating since May 15, 2023.
