Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, finance minister, and MCC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alice Albright convened for a cordial meeting on Tuesday.
In the gathering led by CEO Albright at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar, Minister Mahat emphasized that any lingering doubts from the past could be dispelled through the projects’ adherence to budgetary constraints, stipulated timelines, and defined scopes.
The bilateral agreement between the government and the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) under the US government, inked on September 14, 2017, entered its implementation phase on August 29, 2022.
Minister Mahat conveyed his belief that the successful execution of the MCC projects would stand as a testament to exemplary project management.
In a press conference on Tuesday, CEO Albright claimed the project would be completed on the announced time. The project is slated for completion within five years from the commencement date.
Additionally, Albright asserted that not only does the government of Nepal stand in support of the project, but the nation’s top leaders and agencies. CEO Albright stated that the government of Nepal has also made investments in the project and has shown commitment to the project by keeping it under the national pride project category.
The MCC team under the leadership of Albright, which arrived in Nepal last Sunday, held a high-level meeting on Monday and Tuesday with the former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and KP Sharma Oli, along with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda).
