Rescue operations are ongoing after two buses carrying around 65 passengers were swept into the Trishuli River following a landslide in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road section in Chitwan district. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 AM, as stated by Chief District Officer (CDO) Indra Dev Yadav, who is currently overseeing rescue efforts at the site.

The vehicles involved in the incident were identified as a bus from Ganapati Deluxe carrying 41 passengers and another from Angel Deluxe with 24 passengers on board. The Ganapati Deluxe bus was en route to Gaur in Rautahat from Kathmandu, while the Angel Deluxe bus was traveling to Kathmandu from Birgunj.

Rescue workers have begun clearing the landslide debris, although further details on the accident are still awaited.

CDO Yadav reported that the affected vehicles, Ganapati Deluxe (Province-03-001 Kha 2495) and Angel Deluxe (Bagmati Province 1516), were swept into the river following a sudden landslide near Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29. The bus driver, Kishor Chaudhary, and conductor, Rishi Singh, were among those on the Ganapati Deluxe bus.

According to the Ganapati Travels Bus Counter in Kalanki, 27 passengers from Kathmandu had bought tickets to Rautahat. Efforts are being made to contact the families of the passengers based on information provided by the bus counter. Rautahat Police Chief SP Dilip Ghimire confirmed that they are actively working to reach out to the relatives of the missing individuals.

Similarly, police have confirmed that 21 passengers were traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu on the Angel Deluxe bus, including seven Indian nationals. Rescue operations are also ongoing for this vehicle, as confirmed by DIG Ganesh Thada Magar, Chief of Bagmati Province’s Armed Police Force.
