KMC to install elevators on overhead bridge for accessibility

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has unveiled plans to install lifts on an overhead bridge located in New Baneshwor to enhance convenience for senior citizens.

According to KMC’s traffic advisor, Jagatman Shrestha, the initiative aims to provide accessibility not only to seniors but also to individuals with disabilities, children, and those with physical incapacities.

The plan includes the installation of a lift on both sides of the bridge, with each lift capable of accommodating up to eight people simultaneously.

The project, with an allocated budget of Rs 50 million for the current fiscal year, is expected to commence soon, as the bidding process is nearing its final stages.
