Vote counting going strong: Nepali Congress taking lead in many constituencies, NC leader Singh elected from Kathmandu-1

Nepali Congress is leading the tally as vote counting for the House of Representatives and federal assemblies is underway.

As of Tuesday early morning, Congress is leading in 47 constituencies with victory in three constituencies while CPN-UML is leading in 39 constituencies with victory in one constituency.

Congress registered its first win in Mustang and later in Manang, with both being youth candidates.

Similarly, NC Leader Prakash Man Singh has been re-elected a member of the House of Representatives from Kathmandu-1 after defeating his closest rival Rabindra Mishra by a thin margin of 125 votes.

Meanwhile, the recently-formed Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is also faring well in Valley constituencies. RSP is taking lead in 11 constituencies, right after CPN-Maoist taking lead in 12 constituencies.

Toshima Karki from RSP is taking lead in Lalitpur-3, Gagan Kumar Thapa is taking lead in Kathmandu-4 and Biraj Bhakta Shrestha is taking lead in Kathmandu-8 leaving behind Suman Sayami and current Tourism Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha.

Similarly, CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli is taking lead in Jhapa-5, CPN-Maoist Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal is taking lead in Gorkha-2 and Nepali Congress Chair Sher Bahadur Deuba is taking lead in Dadheldhura-1.
