#TalkToilet Campaign – Aawaaj News X WaterAid Nepal (Part 2)

According to a survey by Aawaaj News, a staggering 90% of the respondents said they would use a public toilet only during emergencies.

People would rather hold their toilets in than use a public facility due to the condition, or the lack of a facility.

The average waiting time is up to 3 hours, with some respondents sharing their experiences of holding their toilets for up to 8 hours – especially when travelling on national highways.

72.1% of the people think most public toilets are dirty and unhygienic, which serves as an important factor towards using such facilities.

The same survey also stated that 57% of the people are unsure where public toilets are.
