SC rejects plea to restrict security personnel using metal bullets during protests

The Supreme Court has dismissed a plea seeking restrictions on the use of metal bullets and other potentially lethal equipment by security personnel to control protests and public gatherings.

The plea, presented by senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, was brought before the court in an effort to address concerns over fatalities among the general public during protests.

During the hearing on the writ petition, Justice Kumar Chundal declined to issue an interim order, stating that the deployment of lethal equipment falls within the realm of authorized measures for security personnel managing crowds in public spaces.

Tripathi argued that the use of metal bullets and similar equipment had led to unfortunate casualties among civilians during protests.
