Rape accused-Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has claimed that he is innocent through social media.

In his Facebook post, he wrote, “I am INNOCENT & keep complete belief in the respectable laws of Nepal. I have decided to take a leave from CPL and go back to my country within a few days. I am ready to face all these baseless allegations. May justice be served to the innocent & right investigation to be done towards everyone involved. Hope the law acts equal to everyone.”

On Tuesday, a complaint was filed by a minor in the presence of her guardian alleging Lamichhane raped her twice in a hotel room the night before he left for Kenya. CCTV footage has confirmed the two entering the hotel on the night of the incident.

An arrest warrant has also been issued against Sandeep on Friday. Following this, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has suspended Lamichhane from the national team along with the captaincy.
