Police to question Binod Chaudhary in Bansbari land grab case

Nepal Police is preparing to question industrialist Binod Chaudhary regarding the disputed purchase and sale of 10 ropanis of land linked to the Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory.

Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane directed Inspector General of Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar and the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) chief to investigate Chaudhary’s involvement in the transaction.

The controversy arose from the sale of government-owned Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory land to Champion Footwear Pvt Ltd, now defunct, with assets transferred to CG Chandbagh Residency Pvt. Arun Chaudhary, Binod Chaudhary’s brother, has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

This dates back 37 years when Chaudhary Group faced allegations of unlawfully acquiring the Bansbari Leather Shoe Factory.
