Former captain of the Nepali cricket team, Sandeep Lamichhane who is in police custody on rape charges, will be presented in the Kathmandu District Court today to file a case against him.
The district attorney’s office is preparing to register the case and will demand imprisonment for up to 12 years on the charge of rape.
After the case is registered on Monday, the hearing process will begin on Tuesday.
Sandeep was arrested on October 6 and his police custody time has been extended three times to allow the police to conduct their investigation.
Sandeep who is accused of raping a 17-year-old minor girl had posted multiple times on social media claiming his innocence but disappearing for two weeks, an Interpol diffusion notice, and surrendering himself after a month can turn the situation against his favor.
