Police detained 13 individuals wearing t-shirts bearing the image of Kathmandu Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) during the Indra Jatra festival in Basantpur today.

The group was taken into custody by the District Police Range to prevent potential clashes.

Authorities stated that the group was held for their own safety, emphasizing the need for a peaceful and civil celebration. According to the police, slogans in support of individuals, including political figures, should not be raised during cultural festivals.

The supporters, who had come to witness the festivities, were previously sidelined and prevented from entering the Jatra venue.
