A determined operation consisting of Nepal Police, the Armed Police, and the National Investigation Department is underway in Kathmandu Valley to uncover potentially illicitly concealed sugar.

This move comes after high-level discussions at the Prime Minister’s Office and in response to a directive from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, resulting in a unanimous decision to mobilize resources to unveil hidden sugar in the area.

Intermediaries have constantly played foul to hike sugar prices at opportune moments by creating a shortage during festival seasons.
