Nepal’s cash circulation makes sharp decline dropping by Rs 15 billion in one month

According to the Nepal Rastra Bank, there has been a decrease of 15 billion rupees in cash circulation within a month.

The cash circulation, which amounted to 623.89 billion rupees in the period of Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May), dropped to 608.51 billion rupees in the period of Jestha (mid-May to mid-June).

In the previous month, the cash circulation had shown an increase from 611.78 billion rupees in the period of Chaitra (mid-March to mid-April) to Baisakh.

NRB said that the use of paper money is declining due to the growing use and volume of digital transactions.

During Jestha of the previous year, the cash circulation amounted to 612.27 billion rupees, but it has since decreased.
