NC demands formation of an investigation committee, continues disruption of parliament

The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) was adjourned today after the main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), continued to voice their grievances against Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in a cooperative embezzlement case.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire postponed the session until 11:00 am on Friday after NC members encircled the parliamentary rostrum, obstructing proceedings.

The NC has been consistently disrupting parliamentary business, demanding the formation of a probe committee to investigate Lamichhane’s alleged misappropriation of cooperative organizations’ funds.

Despite Speaker Ghimire giving Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane the opportunity to address the parliament, the session could not proceed due to the NC’s ongoing protests.
