Nepal government has decided to extend the national lockdown until 27th April (15th Baisakh). A ministerial meeting held on Tuesday decided to extend the lockdown.
Nepal has been placed in a national lockdown since 24 March, initially announced for a week, but later extended to 8 April. In a third announcement, the lockdown was extended until 15th April, 2020. Today’s decision is the fourth official announcement by the government to increase the lockdown, and will be effective until 27th April, 2020.
Nepal has confirmed 16 cases (including one recovery) of the novel coronavirus as of 14th April, 2020. Six districts have been affected so far – Kathmandu, Baglung, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Parsa and Rautahat.
