NAC plane halted at TIA citing a “suspicious passenger”

Kathmandu, August 3

A Mumbai-bound Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) airplane that was about to take off from the Tribhuvan International Airport was stopped by police after they received a warning that the NAC plane has a “suspicious passenger”.

The arrestee was identified as Santosh Lamichhane, a resident of Kailali.

The narrow-body aircraft was about to take off at 1:10 pm when police received a tip that someone involved in gold smuggling was on the plane, informs the airport chief Prem Nath Thakur.

According to a security source at the TIA, police have detained the suspicious traveller and begun their investigation.
