Missing Tara Air aircraft found near Manapthi mountain, poor weather conditions prevailing

Debris of a Tara Air twin-otter plane, that had been out of contact since Sunday morning while flying from Jomsom to Pokhara has been located near Manapthi Mountain. The plane carrying 22 passengers and three crew members was found at Patake Lake Sanosora in Thalang Rural Municipality, ward-2 of Mustang this morning.

 

Thalang rural municipality chairperson Pradeep Gauchan shared that Sumit Gauchan, a local of Lete, and other years’ pickers had sent a photo showing the wretched condition of the crashed plane.

A team from the Nepal Army, Armed Police and Nepal Police are currently at the site, and are assessing the situation. However, prevailing poor weather conditions are affecting the search and rescue operations.

The plane that flew from Pokhara to Jomsom at 9:55 on Sunday morning went out of contact after 10:11.  Although the search for the missing plane with 22 passengers and crew was intensified since Sunday afternoon, the situation was difficult due to inclement weather.
