Man arrested for involvement in trafficking four Nepali women to Kuwait

Nepal Police have arrested Prakash Dhimal, a permanent resident of Jhapa, on charges of allegedly being involved in human trafficking.

Anti-Human Trafficking Bureau (AHTB) nabbed Dhimal from Chabahil, Kathmandu for his involvement in trafficking four Nepali women to Kuwait.

During the preliminary investigation, police found that 41-year-old Dhimal, who works as a manpower agent, took the women to Kuwait via Qatar on April 2022, promising them a good salary with a free visa and flight ticket.

“After reaching Kuwait, the women were sold to an agent for 900 Kuwaiti dinars. The victims had to work for 20 hours a day without payment,” informed SP Dan Bahadur Malla, spokesperson of AHTB.

Owing to extensive working hours, one of the survivors of the incident fell sick and was admitted to a local hospital. She was then rescued by Nepali Embassy in Kuwait and brought back to Nepal.

The survivor filed a complaint against Dhimal which led to his arrest on Monday.
