KMC warns 7 casinos of closure if taxes aren’t paid within a week

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has sent a notice to seven casinos asking them to pay owed entertainment taxes within a week.

On Sunday, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City asked Deltin Casino, Marriott Hotel; Casino Palace, Hotel De L’ Annapurna; Casino Rad, Radisson Hotel; Pride Entertainment and Recreation, Hyatt Recency; Casino Mahjong, Hotel Soaltee; Balco Casino, Hotel Aloft; Bally’s Nepal Casino, Malla Hotel, to pay the tax.

According to the revenue department, the above-mentioned casinos have not paid the tax as per the Economic Act of Bagmati Province for four years. According to KMC revenue department chief Shivraj Adhikari, all casinos are required to pay Rs 50 per person, upon entry.

Of the collected revenue, 60 per cent should be deposited in the metropolis’s account and 40 per cent in the province’s.
