Kathmandu to start Health insurance program in 3 months

The health insurance program in Kathmandu is poised to kick off in three months, according to Ram Prasad Paudel, Chief of the Health Division of the Kathmandu Metropolis.

Paudel revealed that an imminent agreement with the Health Insurance Board is scheduled to be signed this week.

To facilitate the implementation of the insurance program, the Kathmandu metropolis has prepared 24 entry point hospitals across various wards. Paudel emphasized that the deployment of essential doctors and equipment to these hospitals is expected to be a three-month process.

Doctors at the entry point hospitals will handle the treatment of minor diseases, while patients requiring specialized services will be referred to larger hospitals.

Provisions have also been outlined for testing services, including x-rays and lab work, with a medical officer-level doctor in the province entry hospital.
