Kantipur Media Group Chairman arrested over alleged citizenship offence

Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, was arrested on Tuesday on charges of citizenship offence.

The arrest was carried out by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sanu Ram Bhattarai.

Sirohiya was apprehended at the offices of Kantipur Daily in Thapathali following an arrest warrant issued in response to a complaint lodged on April 28, 2024. The complaint alleges a different person’s citizenship is registered in the citizenship number Sirohiya’s claims as his.
