Indian national arrested with NPR 10 million in fake notes

Nepal police have apprehended an Indian national, Mohammad Syed, with counterfeit Nepali currency in Inaruwa municipality-4, Sunsari.

According to Police Chief SP Bipin Regmi, “Byed (22) from Birpur, Bihar state, India, was found in possession of over NPR 10 million in counterfeit notes, predominantly in Rs 1,000 denominations.”

The arrest took place during a routine inspection of a vehicle bearing Indian registration BR X 3429. While Syed, who was the driver, was detained, another individual managed to escape.

Both Syed and the seized currency are currently in police custody, with investigations ongoing.
