Health authorities warn about rise in vector and water-borne diseases

The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) under the Department of Health Services has reported an alarming rise in vector- and water-borne diseases across the country.

One person has succumbed to dengue, with 2,365 infections reported in the past seven and a half months. Dengue has now spread to 73 districts nationwide. The distribution of dengue cases across provinces is as follows: Koshi Province with 537 cases, Madhes Province with 46 cases, Bagmati Province with 747 cases, Gandaki Province with 508 cases, Lumbini Province with 247 cases, Karnali Province with 38 cases, and Sudurpaschim Province with 242 cases. Additionally, there are 287 cases recorded in Kathmandu Valley, 137 cases in Kaski, 133 cases in Jhapa, 116 cases in Chitwan, and 110 cases in Tanahu.

Alongside dengue, the number of cholera cases has been increasing. EDCD confirmed 30 cases of cholera across the country, with no reported casualties so far.
