Responding to the increase in number of Covid-19 cases in Kathmandu, the Ministry of Home Affairs has reimposed restrictions on vehicular movement within the valley. From tomorrow, 6th August, 2020 (22nd Shrawan, 2077 BS), Thursday onward, the earlier implemented ‘odd-even’ number plate will be in effect on private and public vehicles.
The government has also instructed all district administration offices to oversee the strict implementation of safety protocols within their respective districts. “Penalise those who do not wear a mask, or those who disregard public health protocols”, the directive says.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also asked respected authorities to ensure passenger vehicles are not allowed to enter Kathmandu valley between 07:00 p.m. to 07:00 a.m.
Furthermore, public movement is also barred between 09:00 p.m. to 05:00 a.m.
The directive also bans public gatherings at hotels, restaurants, seminars, and other party venues.
International travel is to be restricted, and only flights with prior permission (repatriation flights) will be allowed to land in Kathmandu.
The government has also said District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centres will be established in districts/areas which are identified as ‘high risk’.
