Government and loan shark victims ink five-point agreement

The government officials and representatives of loan shark victim struggle committee signed a five-point agreement on Saturday evening.

As per the agreement, the government has pledged to form a high-authority commission to look into the problems faced by the victims.

The meeting, held in presence of Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, discussed finding a long-term solution to the problem.

The agreement states that the government will form a district-level coordination committee, led by Chief District Officer, to address complaints related to usury or loan sharking.

Meanwhile, the struggle committee has agreed to suspend all of its protest programs following the formation of the commission and requested the government to expedite the process to amend the laws to criminalise unscrupulous money lending.
