Chitwan National Park (CNP) has reported the death of eleven rhinos in the park and its surrounding areas so far in the current Fiscal Year (FY).

Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, the CNP Information Officer stated, “Two of the rhinos were killed by poachers, while the remaining nine died due to natural causes.”

Tiwari detailed the various natural causes contributing to the rhino deaths, including incidents such as getting stuck in bogs, illnesses, fighting among themselves, tiger attacks, and old age.

According to a report from Chitwan National Park, over the past nine years, more than 230 rhinos have died due to various reasons. Other than natural causes, contributing factors included poaching, electric current, diseases, poisoning, falling into pits, and miscellaneous incidents.
