Eight new cases of COVID-19; total cases stand at 40

Eight people from Bhulke in Udayapur district have tested positive for COVID-19.

During a daily press meet of the Ministry of Health and Population held earlier today, spokesperson Dr Bikash Devkota had confirmed that a 33-year-old male of Udayapur had tested positive for COVID-19.

With this, the total number of infected across the country has reached 40.

The samples of the eight infected were sent to Dharan-based BPKIHS for PCR test for double confirmation today after they tested positive in PCR test at Biratnagar-based Koshi Zonal Hospital.

Meanwhile, the state government has decided to seal Udayapur district today onwards as a preventive measure against the spread of the virus.
