Kathmandu District Court has extended the police custody of Sandeep Lamichhane by four more days. After the five-day police custody time period ended yesterday, the police brought Sandeep to court today, on Wednesday.
According to SP Dinesh Mainali, the spokesperson of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the police had asked for a police custody extension of seven days but the court has given only additional four days.
As per police sources, in his statements with police, Lamichhane has denied the rape charge although he has accepted that he was with the girl that day.
Police has acquired footage of CCTV cameras of Valley View Resort and Hotel Kathmandu Inn where he is seen with the rape survivor. In the footage, Lamichhane and the girl is seen entering the room at around 11:55 pm, as per a police official.
However, Sandeep has said that it was the victim who suggested them to stay at the hotel.
Earlier, Lamichhane initially was remanded for seven days to let the police conduct their investigation but the police custody was extended by five days on October 13 to allow police to continue their investigation.
