Demonstration flights conducted successfully at Pokhara International Airport

Two demonstration flights were conducted at Pokhara Regional International Airport on Thursday.

A Yeti Airlines aircraft took off from the old airport at 2:15 pm and landed at the new airport at 2:27 pm. Meanwhile, Buddha Air made a demo flight at the airport at 3:06 pm on Thursday. During the flight, the crew members assessed whether the airport is technically fit for the flight operation. Pilot Pramod Raj said the airport is of international standard and the landing went as per the expectation.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has planned to start commercial flights at the new airport on January 1, 2023 and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is set to inaugurate the airport.

From 1st January, 2023, all commercial flights, excluding flights to Jomsom, helicopter rides and ultralights, will be operated from the new airport.

Pokhara International Airport, built with China’s subsidized loan of around NRs. 22 billion, is also the first airport in Nepal with an air bridge/jet bridge. The airport is Nepal’s third international airport.
