Cold wave and thick fog affects lives in the Terai region: A Photo Feature

A thick layer of fog has engulfed several districts in the Terai region of Nepal, contributing to decreasing temperatures which has affected daily life in the region. As the region remains blanketed in fog, for days at stretch, people have resorted to the warmth of small fires outside their homes. Students are seen clutching on to their caps and shawls, as they warm themselves against the cold winter wave. Similarly, domestic flights are seeing delays and cancellations due to poor visibility, and in highways, thick fog has prompted local governments to issue safety warnings.
