Keeping in mind the growing number of Covid-19 cases in Nepal, and to counter a possible third wave of infections in the country, COVID-19 Crisis Management Coordination Center (CCMCC) has recommended fresh measures:
- Vaccination Cards: CCMCC has recommended compulsory provision of carrying vaccination card or any other proof of completing the COVID-19 vaccines from the general public while visiting public offices. It has also been recommended mandatory vaccine card display while entering offices, hotels, restaurants, cinema halls, stadiums, parks etc. The citizens can show proof of complete vaccination through their mobile phone or any other online system while visiting the restricted areas and public places, according to CCMCC. Similarly, CCMCC has also recommended mandatory vaccination proof for those travelling on domestic flights from January 17.
- School Closures: As per the recommendation, schools of all types and grades have been instructed to give a winter vacation of minimum 15 days beginning from January 15. Guardians and students aged 12-17 years and above 18 years have been advised to get COVID jabs.
- Limit on gatherings: CCMCC has further recommended the government to restrict gatherings, mass functions and political parties’ meeting to 25 people until further notice.
Each recommendation is subject to approval by the respective ministry or department. Nepal on Sunday recorded 1,167 new cases of Covid-19 – 841 via PCR tests and 326 via antigen tests. CCMCC has also advised the Minstry of Health to purchase needed vaccines and medicines.
