Police have arrested suspended CPN-UML secretary Top Bahadur Rayamajhi from Pasikot, Budhanilkantha on Sunday evening.

Rayamajhi had claimed his innocence and assured to coordinate with the police to help in the investigation but he went out of contact and is still on the run.

With the arrest of Rayamajhi, as many as 13 people, including top politicians and higher-ranking officials, have been arrested in so far for their involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, defrauding Nepali citizens on the pretext of sending them to the United States as refugees.

The group had been scamming people for the past five years by promising to send them abroad as refugees while issuing fake documents to some Nepali citizens, identifying them as refugees, to help them go abroad.
