The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) has announced the signing of an Air Service Agreement between Nepal and Switzerland.

Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, Chief of the Civil Aviation Division at MoCTCA, revealed that the agreement allows for 28 weekly flights between the two nations. Out of these, a maximum of 14 flights are slated for Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, while the others will operate to Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara Regional International Airport.

According to Lamichhane, “At present, two airlines have been designated, but there is a provision that airlines can be added according to the need. The provision of ‘third country code share’ to fly to third countries is also mentioned in the agreement.”

With this agreement, Nepal’s bilateral air service agreements have reached to 42 countries.

MoCTCA disclosed that negotiations for similar agreements with other nations are underway. Nepal is also poised to sign a similar agreement with Indonesia.

Discussions are also underway with several countries, including Russia.
