32 missing after a tipper carrying people to Kalikot quarantine fell into Karnali River

A tipper carrying fifty Nepalis returning from India to a quarantine facility at Raskot Municipality in Kalikot district fell below the road into a river.

The tipper (Na 8 Kha 5133) skidded off the road at Lalighat along the Karnali corridor and plunged into Karnali River.

As many as 32 people have gone missing and the search for the missing in the river was ongoing.

At least, two people have been killed and four others injured, said state police chief Basanta Pant.

According to police, overload of passengers beyond the capacity of the vehicle might have been the cause of the accident. However, the exact cause is yet to be investigated.
