124 new COVID-19 cases on Monday; Health Ministry appeals to maintain precaution

On Monday, Nepal recorded 124 new COVID-19 cases which is one of the highest in the past several months. In the past few days, the new cases of COVID-19 are in an upward trend.

Similarly, Omicron’s sub-variant XBB.1.16 has been detected in swab samples collected from COVID-19 infected people on Sunday.

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has requested everyone to maintain precautions in view of the growing cases of COVID-19 infection and stay alert as the number of infections is likely to grow.

The number of people with active infection has reached 444 with 21 people in isolation and 10 receiving treatments in ICU.

In the neighbouring country, India, the new variant of COVID-19 has spread lately and the open border makes it easier for the virus to enter Nepal.
