Tribhuvan University (TU) has officially canceled the public notice issued on January 5, inviting applications for the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor.

The cancellation decision was reportedly made during a Saturday meeting of the Information Committee, although the specific reasons behind this move have not been clarified in the notice.

Criticism has been mounting from various quarters regarding the initially advertised criteria for the Vice-Chancellor position, and the composition of the appointment committee and its three members.

Some have raised concerns about questionable criteria that seemingly favored individuals with connections to those in power for the position.

However, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has promised that the process will be transparent and free from political influence.
