Nepal is observing Chhath, a significant festival predominantly celebrated in the Terai region, and a public holiday has been given by the federal government.

Devotees gather along the banks of rivers, streams, and ponds, adorning these natural landscapes for the auspicious occasion, and worship the setting sun by offering ‘argha,’ a symbolic ritual expressing gratitude.

The same process is followed the next morning as they welcome the rising sun, marking the conclusion of the festival.

People observe a fast and stay awake throughout the night, engaging in prayers dedicated to the rising sun scheduled for tomorrow morning. The Chhathi goddess is believed to bring desired results and well-being for families, with the conviction that sorrows and troubles will dissipate through this devoted observance.

The festival started on November 17th and ends on November 20th.
